There is a lot of fitness variety in Los Angeles, as folks enjoy getting outside and running the Culver City stairs, traversing the trails at Kenneth Hahn Park, or getting in some tennis at Rancho Cienega Sports Complex. But some people, like to get a little physical with their workouts.

The Accelerated School sends 93 percent of their students to college
The Accelerated Schools’ principal has a simple message for her students:
“It’s not if you’re going to go to college, it’s where you’re going to go to college,” Katherine Aguirre said. “It’s not an option. The options have been limited. Every student takes college prep courses. Every student is expected to get all the way through calculus. If they have difficulty, we’ll provide them with the support.”
Tennis anyone?
Drive down Rodeo Road, right by the Rancho Cienega Sports Complex, and you will see several people, no matter the time of day or night, chasing down little yellow tennis balls that are traveling at extremely high velocities, and slicing the balls right back at their opponent.

Female Athletes: Triumphs despite continuing adversity
In several industries in the United States, women have competed right along side of men, and they have been able to perform at extremely high levels without the same type of support that men have benefited from. Sports is one of those industries, as women have had to overcome a lack of funding, lower pay, less opportunity, having to earn a living in other countries, and being objectified. But even with those issues, female athletes have triumphed at the highest levels of sports, and in many cases, they have been just as popular, if not more popular, than their male counterparts.
Student Athlete of the Week
When Khaliq Black showed up for his first baseball tryout, wearing blue jeans and without any of the baseball equipment that the other kids had, the coaches were amazed, and even thought that his father Ernest was not telling the truth when he informed them that Khaliq had never picked up a bat before.
