Narbonne High School senior Amber Hart has used strength and toughness to excel in basketball, she has used her intelligence (3.6 grade point average) to gain acceptance into Ohio State University and the University of Connecticut, and she has used her artistic abilities to learn how to play the piano. Now she has joined the track team, and she is quickly becoming a good shot putter.

Prop 47 reduced certain nonviolent felonies to misdemeanors, but funding is questioned
Prop 47, a ballot initiative approved by voters in November of 2014, reduced a list of nonviolent drug and property crimes from felonies to misdemeanors. As a result, the initiative decreased the state’s prison population, and the savings were supposed to be used to fund community service programs.

Alice Coachman displayed natural athletic abilities growing up in the 1920s, beating the boys in foot races and other athletic competitions in her neighborhood in Albany, Ga. But being Black and a female in the segregated South meant that she had limited opportunities to develop her abilities.

Jackie Robinson became a trailblazer for breaking Major League Baseball’s color barrier, when he made his debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1947. But one year earlier, two of his UCLA team mates, Kenny Washington and Woody Strode, made their NFL debuts, becoming the first Black NFL players in the modern era (post WWII).
The Rams are coming home
For the first time in 20 years, Los Angeles will be home to an NFL football team, as the Rams leaving St. Louis to return back to Los Angeles, which was their home from 1946 to 1994.
Narbonne High makes history by winning the State Bowl
