For those waiting to see Trump fall from grace into the pits of hell over some faux pas or another, the Epstein files right now may look like a clear winner.
But, that all may be mere wishful thinking. The files currently held by the Justice Department, as incompetent as that branch of government now seems to be under Bondi, Patel, etc., will have reread the thousands of pages of Epstein documents in an attempt to “wash” the documents clean of any trace of perfidy by Mr. Trump. Sure, they will probably still be “country bumpkins” in the process and leave several tidbits of damaging information for the public to digest. But, will any evidence left for the public—deliberately or accidentally—much matter? Probably not.
The Trump train barreling over and smashing American idioms will very probably continue unabated. Unless the Supreme Court unexpectedly “grows a pair” soon, Trump will more than likely continue to smash American social-political icons until he is finally out of office and driven away from what’s left of the White House, in “Wreck-It Ralph” chaotic splendor.
No, the only real hope for those praying daily to release this country from the madness of Trump is that the 2026 midterms resist Trump’s expected massive attempt to either steal or invalidate those elections, and enough House and especially Senate members are elected to impeach and remove him as POTUS. Now that is clearly possible.
The Democrats just have to stay relevant through those elections, and through the expected massive Republican attempt to steal another election cycle. Simply winning the House won’t be nearly enough. The House must actually vote to impeach the POTUS, but it is only the Senate that—by a 2/3 majority vote—can remove him from office and have him driven away from the White House he will have left in shambles. Winning a House majority is a relatively safe bet for Democrats. Winning a 60-member Senate—now that will surely take a massive national effort of organizing.
Look to the Epstein files for tantalizing action and info, but most political “experts” would not give but puny odds to the Epstein saga issuing Trump a political death blow.
Those schooled on the drama of tv shows and movies may really want to see the fall of the Trump house brought about by Epstein revelations and salaciousness, but I wouldn’t even bet a regular lottery ticket amount on that happening.
Back to football, basketball, soccer and other games, folks. This particular political game will not satisfy our desire that the Sword of Democles finally drop through the Trump government’s heart.
