Electric vehicles are a common means of getting around the city. Unfortunately up until now there weren’t many electric vehicle charging stations in South LA, however that has now changed. Fortunately there is a new electric vehicle charging station located in South L.A. PVJOBS is responsible for the area’s first Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations. A grand opening celebration took place on Oct. 21 in the PVJOBS parking lot at 4112 S. Main St.
This is the area’s first electric vehicle (EV) charging station. LA City Councilman Curren Price and PVJOBS Executive Director Mary Taylor were both present at the grand opening. PVJOBS has partnered with Tesla and the Department of Water and Power. The chargers located at the PVJOBS station are universally adaptable and will take three hours to fully charge most vehicles. The new stations will provide a plethora of new affordable charging alternatives for South Los Angeles residents.
“These newly installed Tesla universal charging stations will become a valuable, reliable resource to the community, right here in the PVJOBS parking lot,” said James “Roc” Farmer, PVJOBS case manager.
