Junior Livestock Show and Auction

The California Poppy Festival™ is set to bloom with an exciting new feature this year: the Junior Livestock Show and Auction, taking place at the AV Fair & Event Center later this month The Poppy Festival and Junior Livestock Show coincide, spanning April 19-21. The auction will round out the weekend's events on April 24.
“We are incredibly proud to introduce the Junior Livestock Show and Auction at this year's festival,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “This addition is not just an event; it's an investment in our youth, providing them with invaluable educational and growth opportunities. It's a platform where they can showcase their dedication and hard work.”
The festival's latest addition invites young participants from 4-H, Grange, and FFA to display the animals they've nurtured for 6-18 months. This event, traditionally part of the Antelope Valley Fair in the fall, has been rescheduled to spring to align with the academic calendar, benefiting students across all grades.
“The Junior Livestock Show and Auction is a cornerstone for nurturing our future agricultural leaders,” stated Vice Mayor Marvin Crist. “It reflects our community's dedication to supporting our youth, offering them a stage to excel and learn valuable life skills.”
Highlighting the event series, the Junior Livestock Auction is scheduled for April 24 at 9 a.m. at the AV Fair & Event Center. This auction not only showcases the hard work of young farmers and ranchers but also addresses the rising costs of feed and supplies, making participation more accessible.
In addition to the livestock show, the festival will feature the second annual Create Festival on April 19, celebrating artistic talents among high school students.
Join the vibrant community spirit and witness the future of agriculture at the California Poppy Festival™ from April 19-21 at the AV Fair & Event Center.
