Grade school placed on lockdown

In Canyon Country

Mint Canyon Elementary School in Canyon Country was placed on lockdown this week after an act of vandalism was apparently caused by someone with a pellet or BB gun, authorities said.

Deputies were sent to the school in the 16400 block of Sierra Highway Wednesday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

No injuries or arrests were reported. Deputies searched an area near the campus, which remained on lockdown by late Wednesday morning.
