Lancaster commits to safer neighborhoods

A special letter from the mayor

By R. Rex Parris | Mayor of Lancaster

Dear Lancaster residents,

As your Mayor, ensuring the safety and security of our families is my top priority. In light of increasing crime rates, we are taking action to address this issue. I am excited to announce a new initiative aimed at enhancing safety in our neighborhoods, which will be discussed with the City Council in the near future.

This program will offer financial assistance to neighborhoods interested in improving security measures, such as installing gates and security cameras. The City of Lancaster is committed to supporting neighborhoods throughout the entire process, from application to implementation.

Here’s a brief overview of the program:

1.   Eligibility: All Lancaster neighborhoods are eligible to apply.

2.   Funding: The city will cover a portion of the costs for approved security measures.

3.   Implementation: Once the program is approved by the City Council, we will provide more details on the process to apply, funding, and implementation.

We understand that some residents may have concerns about the impact of increased security measures on our city’s sense of community and inclusiveness. However, we believe that this initiative can strike a balance between safety and maintaining Lancaster’s welcoming atmosphere.

In the meantime, we encourage all neighborhoods to consider how they can improve safety and security in our city. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the City of Lancaster’s office. Together, we can create a safer Lancaster for everyone.

R Rex Parris,

Mayor of Lancaster
