The Western Access Video Excellence (WAVE) is the annual awards program presented by the Western States Regional Conference and Trade Show for the Alliance for Community Media (ACM).

“We are truly honored and excited to see Palmdale selected for this award that featured our first fully inclusive park, Courtney’s Playground,” said Palmdale Mayor Laura Bettencourt. “Completing the park was a team effort involving Courtney Triana’s family, Parks and Recreation, and the Palmdale City Council. This award demonstrates our communication team’s ability to share this important local story with impact to a wide audience.”

The WAVE Awards recognize the most creative programs from the Western region that focus on community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and move viewers to experience television differently.

Palmdale received nominations in two additional categories. “This is Our Shot, Palmdale!” was nominated for Best Video in Community Issues and “Prepare to Protect: Pandemic” for Best Public Service Announcement.
