Without them, worldwide pilot shortage will continue to impact travel

Sling Pilot Academy is hosting “100 Free Flights” for high school and college students to encourage them to consider a career as a pilot. With a starting pilot salary of $100,000, even without a college degree, becoming a pilot can take as little as two years to get a job.

Thanks to a unique strategic partnership with SkyWest Airlines, Sling Pilot Academy students have the opportunity to be hired by the world’s largest regional carrier.

Additionally, to encourage more women and minorities to become pilots, members of Women in Aviation; Latino Pilots Association; The Ninety-Nines; Professional Asian Pilot Association; and other multicultural associations will be on hand March 11 to share why pilots enjoy one of the most incredible careers filled with adventure. Lunch will be served by Habit Burgers and the Western Museum of Flight will have a pop-up display about the rich history of aviation.

According to Boeing’ Pilot Technical Outlook forecast there will be a demand for 2.1 million new commercial aviation jobs. And until 2036, the Pilot World Demand is 637,000 and 31,850 pilots are needed each year. Daily, 87 new pilots are needed to meet the huge pilot shortage that is in part the blame for frequent flight cancellations.

Sling is a dynamic small business that has grown from a handful of students to now being one of the largest and diverse flight schools in Los Angeles. They also build their own Sling aircraft at the Torrance Airport.

Sling Pilot Academy is owned and operated by partners Matt Liknaitzky, Jean d’Assonville and Wayne Toddun. Since 2012, Sling has been training students to become pilots.

Sling Pilot Academy is a new full-time program to prepare pilots for the airlines in the shortest possible time frame at the lowest cost in the industry. Sling operates schools in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Students are encouraged to register in advance for the March 11 academy, located at 3401 Airport Dr. Torrance. Visit https://tinyurl.com/2ab34u88
