The North County Transportation Coalition (NCTC) recently announced the appointment of Marvin Crist, vice mayor of Lancaster, CA, as its chair for the Board of Directors.
Crist is a champion of transportation initiatives and has been recognized for his extensive work in the Antelope Valley, having been named the 2020 Lancaster Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year and the 2021 California Transportation Champion of the Year.
In addition to his appointment as Chair for the NCTC, he is currently the Chairman of the Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA), which recently reached the milestone of ten million miles of zero-emission bus operations.
Crist has been instrumental in supporting the development of AVTA’s bus services to our community. He also serves as Chair of the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District, which works in partnership with the local communities to achieve and preserve a healthful environment through effective air quality programs by promoting community and individual responsibility for air quality while supporting strong-economic growth throughout the region.
“I am honored to be appointed as the Chairman of the North County Transportation Coalition,” said Crist. “I look forward to continuing to work with the coalition to create a better transportation experience for the residents that reside in the northern area of Los Angeles County.”
The NCTC is an alliance of three cities and the county dedicated to coordinating regional transportation planning and building a safe, efficient mobility network in North Los Angeles County through the targeted use of taxpayer dollars.

NCTC was formed in 1995 by then-County Supervisor Mike Antonovich as an advisory body to coordinate information and provide a forum for discussion of regional transportation issues of mutual interest and concern to the cities of Palmdale, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, and the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County’s Fifth District.
