The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) and MOAH:CEDAR are excited to announce their summer exhibitions available for viewing through Oct. 23 at MOAH:CEDAR.

“Habitat: Explorations” by Stephanie Sydney and “CODE” by Karchi Perlmann. The visually engaging images explore aspects of human activity through distinctive techniques and subject matter.

Sydney’s “Habitat: Explorations” invites viewers to explore deeper notions of life and death, strength and fragility, chaos and order. Utilizing Photoshop, she merges and layers precisely chosen images, creating surreal visuals that stimulate significant conversations. Her images offer a deeper understanding of human interaction with the natural environment. Join Stephanie Sydney on Sunday, Oct. 2, from 2 to 3 p.m. at MOAH:CEDAR for an in-depth conversation about her image-making.

In “CODE,” Perlmann manipulates the digital code of an image, altering and reconstructing the “DNA” of the image’s building blocks. These alterations affect the blur, colorization, and contrast of an original image, creating new and perplexing visuals contributing to the exhibit’s sensory experience.

By manipulating the file integrity of an image, Perlmann presents the question, “what is an image?” Join Perlmann on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 2 to 3 p.m. at MOAH:CEDAR for an artist discussion around his images.

Together with the Lancaster Museum of Art and History, MOAH:CEDAR is a catalyst for engaging a diverse audience through captivating exhibitions, innovative artists, and dynamic programming.

The gallery aspires to encourage progressive ideas and experimental genres of artwork, which highlight performance, education, and studio practice.

MOAH:CEDAR is located at 44857 Cedar Ave in Lancaster. For more information, visit moahcedar.org or call (661) 723-6250.
