The Crenshaw/LAX K Line ribbon cutting

From left, Mayor Eric Garcetti joined Rep. Maxine Waters (CA-37) and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg earlier this month for the official ribbon cutting of the Crenshaw/Exposition station. A project originally envisioned  during Mayor Tom Bradley’s administration, the Crenshaw/LAX “K” light rail line is scheduled to open this fall.

“I fought hard for federal support of the K line,  especially for additional stations in Leimert Park and Westchester, and am proud to  see it finally nearing completion,” Waters said. “It will positively affect small businesses all along  the route, from Los Angeles to Inglewood, and will certainly reduce traffic, becoming  an easier and less expensive way to get to the airport.”

The Crenshaw/LAX K Line is an 8.5-mile light rail line that will include eight new stations to serve the Crenshaw, Inglewood, Westchester and LAX communities. A ninth station will be added after opening to connect the Crenshaw/LAXLine, Metro C Line (Green) and bus lines to the future LAX Automated People Mover.
