An 8-year-old girl from Riverside who was hit in the face by a cell phone while riding a roller coaster at Magic Mountain needed 10 stitches to close the wound, and her family is looking for answers into how it happened, according to media reports.
Josh Evans told Fox 11 his daughter was hit in the forehead by a phone that flew out of the hand of another rider on the Twisted Colossus roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain over the Fourth of July weekend. Evie Evans was treated by first aid staff at Magic Mountain, but went to an emergency room and needed stitches to treat the wound.
Evie Evans and her mother Della were seated together on the roller coaster. Evie was hit by the phone, and she started screaming, her father told Fox 11. Evie caught the phone and turned it into park staff.
Six Flags, in a statement released to Fox 11, said the park’s policy “strictly prohibits all loose articles on rides,” and that “guests must follow all written and verbal instructions for safe riding.”
Evans told Fox 11 he wasn’t satisfied with the park’s response.
“I guess it was a friendly way to say that they are not taking responsibility for what happened,” he said in an email to Fox 11. “So who is at fault here?”
