After two years, the Festival of Masks marks its return on June 26th at Leimert Park. The festival is rooted in African culture and will offer connections back to African ancestors through drumming, dancing, chanting, mask making, food, and healing arts to find a sense of wholeness and well-being.
In preparation for the festival, LA Commons is hosting a pre-event period leading up to the festival. This period includes Crenshaw walks, taking place with Dr. Randal Henry every morning at 8:30 at Leimert Park, 4395 Leimert Blvd. Other workshops and events include Healing Power of Creativity with Arias Williams on June 11, and a hair ceremony with Nappily Naturals on June 25. All workshops are being held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Leimert Park.
