Singer R. Kelly needs more time to appeal last week’s convictions of a sex offender because he recently contracted Covid 19 and has fired most of his legal team, he told a federal judge on Tuesday, reports Billboard. Citing Kelly’s recent diagnosis, his remaining attorney asked for a two-week extension until Feb. 17 to file his post-trial motions. Kelly was convicted last September on nine counts of charges that accused him of years of sexual abuse of young women. He’s also facing more charges, scheduled to be heard in August in Chicago, on charges relating to pornography and obstructing justice.
EURWEB is also reporting that as a result of Covid, Kelly’s speech is impaired.
