Angel City Sports announces series of summer events

Angel City Sports (ACS)—the organization behind the Angel City Games presented by The Hartford, which is one of the largest multi-sport adaptive competitions in the U.S.—has launched a new summer series that will feature sports and special in-person events designed to provide physical fitness opportunities and education and awareness surrounding the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

The 2021 Angel City Summer Series presented by The Hartford will be primarily virtual, but also will offer in-person activities for adaptive athletes every Saturday through August 7. RSVPs are required for each in-person event.

The in-person activities schedule:

Multi-Sport Festival Day:

July 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Event will be at the EXPO Center- 3980 Bill Robertson Ln, Los Angeles, and will feature Wheelchair Basketball, Sitting Volleyball, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Curling, and more in the Experience Zone, hosted by the Youth Leadership Council.

Para-Triathlon Clinic with

Legacy Triathlon:

July 17, noon to 4 p.m.

Event will be at Nationals Race Venue in Long Beach.

Fitness Clinic with

The Abilities Recovery Center:

July 24, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Event will be at 2285 Westwood Blvd, Los Angeles. Angel City Sports continues its partnership with the Abilities Recovery Center, which trains elite and aspiring Paralympians along with recreational athletes, with a full-body fitness workout. Athletes 13+ of all ability levels are welcome to participate.

Multi-Sport Festival Day:

July 31, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Event will be at Harvard Westlake Upper School- 3700 Coldwater Canyon Ave, Studio City, and will feature Track & Field, Wheelchair Basketball, Sitting Volleyball, and Lawn Games Tournament hosted by the Youth Leadership Council.

Angel 5k:

Aug. 7

The event will be held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. ACS also will host bi-weekly “Angel 5k Training Boosts” sessions aimed to help adaptive athletes compete in the in-person or virtual 5k.

“The virtual and in-person events at the 2021 Angel City Summer Series presented by The Hartford are building resources and excitement for the upcoming Tokyo Paralympic Games, for both adaptive athletes and their supporters,” said Clayton Frech, CEO and Founder of Angel City Sports. “The series is a perfect combination of education, engagement, and pure fun, with everything from compelling panels to workouts, multi-sport days, and our culminating 5k race.”

Angel City Sports provides free, year-round adaptive sport clinics, equipment, and competitive opportunities for kids, adults and veterans with physical disabilities or visual impairments. A chapter member of Move United, Angel City Sports’ flagship event, the annual Angel City Games presented by The Hartford, debuted in 2015 and is now the largest multi-sport Paralympic competition in the U.S. for kids, adults and veterans. Participants include, but are not limited to, individuals with limb differences and amputation, spinal cord injury, quadriplegia, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, blindness or visual impairment, traumatic brain injury, stroke, muscular dystrophy, and dwarfism or short stature.
