Trick-or-treating has essentially been cancelled. The LA County Department of Health recommends everyone to stay home and celebrate inside their homes with social distancing and precautionary measures. But knowing that family and community are still essential, five L.A. non profit organizations have banded together to create a fun and safe Halloween during COVID-19.

A Goodie Giveaway set to be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, in Inglewood, will serve a total of 500 goodie filled baskets to families. Baskets will contain everything needed to practice a safe and fun holiday: masks, hand sanitizers, and packaged goodies.

Registration for the Goodie Giveaway opens on Oct. 1st at www.simplyyouthinstitute.com/events. Registrations will close when the maximum quantity is reached. All families are encouraged to register for the event and provide the number of children who will be attending per car.

Goodies will be distributed through a car parade where vehicles will drive up to pick up their basket and drive out to enjoy the goodies with their families in a safe environment. Families are encouraged to wear costumes and stay inside their vehicles.

The five nonprofits involved center their services on family and building community and include: Simply Youth Institute; Keeping Konnected Inc.; B.A.R.E. Truth; Beyond the Skies Unlimited; and A Brighter Beginning Housing.
