Police officer arrested for brandishing fake gun

A Los Angeles Police Department officer was free on bond this week after being arrested for allegedly brandishing a replica firearm during a possible road rage incident in Saugus.

Georgeta Buruiana, 38, was arrested on suspicion of brandishing a firearm at an occupant of a vehicle about 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14, with bail set at $20,000. She was freed on bond later that night.

Deputies from the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station made the arrest following an incident on Copper Hills Drive, according to media reports.

Station spokeswoman Shirley Miller told the newspaper the arrest involved an alleged case of road rage, with the alleged victim claiming a female adult suspect displayed a firearm in a threatening manner.

Buruiana was assigned to home after her arrest, pending the completion of a department administrative investigation, according to LAPD spokesman Officer Mike Lopez.

The criminal investigation was being conducted by the sheriff’s department, Lopez said.
