The Junior Dixon Foundation will host its annual Walk-A-Thon and Health Fair on Saturday, April 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. At St. Andrews Recreation Park, 8701 S. St. Andrews Pl. in Los Angeles.

The Foundation presents this event each year to help provide prosthetic limbs to children and veterans, and  also to distribute scholarship funds. The health fair will include a variety of community organizations, among them W. King Health Care Group, Cedar Sinai Coach for Kids, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Los Angeles Health Development, and Regent Medical Group. Also participating will be Women of Color, Los Angeles County Voter Registration, the Veterans Administration, and radio station KPFK 90.7-FM.

The theme of the event, “Walking Today So That Others Can Walk Tomorrow,” is in recognition of Burley L. “Junior” Dixon and for the past 13 years the Foundation has assisted children and veterans with their prosthetic needs. On-site testing and educational material will be available. There will also be raffle drawings, free hot dogs, refreshments and a toy give-away.

The Foundation accepts donations via pay pal. Donate toys, games and books by visiting jrdixonfoundation@hotmail.com, or by mail at P.O. Box 431065, Los Angeles, Calif., 90043.
