A man riding a motorcycle was seriously injured in Palmdale when his bike collided with a car, whose driver then fled the scene, authorities said Thursday.

The collision took place about 11:35 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 30th Street East and Avenue Q-4, said sheriff’s Lt. Brian Dunn, watch commander at the Palmdale station.

A videographer at the scene reported that the motorcyclist was trying to make a left turn onto Avenue Q-4 when the crash occurred. The motorcyclist was thrown off his bike and the driver of the car then fled the scene, Dunn said.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital and was listed this morning in serious but stable condition, according to Dunn.

The hit-and-run driver was described as a male driving a black and white Ford Mustang with a black top, Dunn said.

“We’re still looking for him for the hit-and-run,” Dunn said.

Anyone who knows his identity or whereabouts is urged to call the Palmdale sheriff’s station at (661) 272-2400. Tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS. All tips can be made anonymously.
