The BET Experience  began its week-long activities with a kick-off concert at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza on June 18.  The show, which was hosted by KJLH’s DJ Malski, featured vocal artist Monica, V. Bozeman, Bilal, Luke Jakes, and Tish Hyman.

Even though it was one of the hottest days in recent months in Los Angeles, the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Outdoor Promenade was packed with four-thousand fans ready to party at the official pre-event celebration in Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, the BET/AEG Experience Volunteer Service Day was held at the LA regional Food Bank. Fifty AEG and BET volunteers assembled food packages that went to more than 23,000 seniors, needy families, and women with infants and children in Los Angeles County.

On Wednesday, the BET/AEG Youth Basketball Clinic was held at the Crenshaw YMCA. The event featured a one-hour youth basketball clinic for 100 kids from the Crenshaw YMCA. Councilmembers Herb Wesson and Marqueece Harris-Dawson joined BET/AEG to present a check of $5,000 to the Crenshaw YMCA, which will be used to support the facilities and youth programming initiatives.

On Friday, for the fourth year in a row, the BET Youth Program will offer 50 local Los Angeles high school students a behind-the-scenes look at the music and entertainment industry. Select applicants will spend three days learning about potential career paths and gain valuable insider advice from industry icons such as Grammy Award-winning producer Warryn Campbell, gospel hip-hop recording artist and first-ever BET Youth Program celebrity ambassador Christon Gray, and motivational speaker and author Ramsey Jay Jr. This year’s Youth Program experience will culminate with a seat at DJ Khaled’s “Keys to Genius” Genius Talk and a ticket to the 2016 BET Awards taking place Sunday June, 26th.

The BET Experience will be held June 23-26 at LA Live. The event will feature 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Usher, Bryson Tiller, Katt Williams, Mike Eps, and it will end with the BET Awards on Sunday.
