COMPTON, Calif, – A 22-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his stepfather to death on Christmas Day was charged today with murder.

Rudy Flores of Watts is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Compton Superior Court in connection with the killing of his 54-year-old stepfather, Nery Ambrosio.

Flores — who also allegedly threatened his stepsister when she called 911 for help — is additionally charged with one count of making criminal threats.

Flores had been arguing with his mother about a baseball bat she hid from him, according to Deputy District Attorney Beatriz Dieringer.

When the woman refused to tell him where the bat was and went to her bedroom, her son allegedly pushed his way inside and stabbed his stepfather.

Neighbors subdued him until police arrived and arrested him, Dieringer said.

Flores has remained jailed since then. The District Attorney’s Office is asking that his bail be set at just over $1 million.

Flores faces a maximum of life in prison if convicted as charged, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
