The selections made by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2017 NFL draft made good on a promise to be a contender in the AFC West. They added heft to the offensive line, they added depth in the secondary and they added a talented receiver for Philip Rivers to throw to and there can’t be much more expected of a draft than that.

Reigning WNBA Champion Los Angeles Sparks announced its 2017 preseason schedule. Preseason tip off will have the Sparks on the road on May 2, for a 2 p.m. game at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The champs will then face the Connecticut Sun at the same arena Wednesday, May 3 at 4 p.m.
Following their road trip, the Sparks will head home to an L.A. location yet to be announced against the San Antonio Stars on Saturday, May 6 at 4 p.m.

USC standout Adoree’ Jackson skips senior season for NFL
USC cornerback Adoree’ Jackson will forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL draft. He was one of the most electric players in college football during his three-year tenure with the Trojans. Jackson waited until right up to the Jan. 16 deadline to declare for early entry into the draft, but most expected he would come out after a very good junior season. He’s the third USC underclassmen to enter the draft, joining receiver Smith Schuster and guard Damien Mama.
LA D-Fenders become South Bay Lakers
The Los Angeles D-Fenders will change their name following its 2016-17 season to the South Bay Lakers, according to a recent announcement by the team.
The re-branding will more closely align the affiliate with the Lakers in hopes of achieving greater visibility for the NBA Development League franchise. It’s not a stretch since the team has been owned by the L.A. Lakers since 2006.
The Chargers have returned to L.A.
It’s official, the San Diego Chargers have returned to Los Angeles starting with the 2017 season. After going 21 years without an NFL team, Los Angeles picked up its second within 24 months.
