The Los Angeles County Affordable Housing Solutions Agency (LACAHSA), community partners, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell will meet in South Los Angeles on Thursday, June 11, 10:00am-11:00am, to discuss investments that support renter protection, housing stability, and homelessness prevention initiatives throughout Los Angeles County.

The occasion will honor neighborhood-based groups CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights) and WLCAC (Watts Labor Community Action Commit-tee), which offer vital services assisting locals and families in maintaining safe housing, preventing displacement, and obtaining assistance prior to housing difficulties turning into homelessness.

“The partnership between LACAHSA and CHIRLA reflects what Los Angeles does best—coming together to meet the needs of our communities with compassion, urgency, and purpose. By creating more access points for families impacted by wildfires, ICE raids, and housing insecurity, we are ensuring that Angelenos can find the support they need to remain safe, stable, and connected,” said Angelica Salas, executive director, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA). “No single organization can meet these challenges alone, but together we can help families recover, thrive, and build a stronger future for all.”

Those who will attend include Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors; LACAHSA Board and Leadership; Leadership from CHIRLA; Leadership from WLCAC; Community stakeholders; and regional partners. Additional elected officials and community leaders will also attend.

“Housing stability greatly impacts quality of life and has been central to WLCAC’s historic work and mission and our collective work for community self-determination. This investment allows WLCAC to continue providing community-centered support for the stability that allows individuals and families to grow and thrive,” said Tim Watkins, WLCAC President and CEO.

Prevention initiatives are becoming more widely acknowledged as an essential part of the response as Los Angeles County continues to invest in strategies to address homelessness and housing affordability. By putting residents in touch with community-based support, legal resources, stabilization services, and rental aid, the event will showcase how Measure A-supported investments are being used by reputable local groups that serve many of the most needy communities and populations in the County.

The event will highlight how Measure

A-supported investments are being deployed through trusted local organizations serving some of the County’s most vulnerable residents and communities. “Homelessness prevention starts long before someone loses housing. It starts with making sure families have access to the resources, support, and trusted community partners they need when challenges arise. These investments reflect our commitment to meeting people long before they reach the homelessness system to keep residents rooted in the place they call home. I am proud that for the first time as a region we are funding across the housing spectrum,” said LA County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, LACAHSA Board Member.
