The California Highway Patrol today released details about a fatal collision west of Palmdale that left a 40-year-old man dead. The crash occurred about 3:35 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of East Palmdale Boulevard and 150th Street East, according to CHP Public Information Officer Jordon Church.
According to preliminary findings, a 2004 Honda Civic driven by Jason Hutton of Palmdale was southbound on 150th Street East, approaching Palmdale Boulevard, when Hutton made a left turn into the path of a westbound 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by a 35-year-old Lancaster man.
“The front of the Toyota collided with the left side of the Honda,” Church said in a statement. “As a result of the crash, Mr. Hutton sustained fatal injuries.” The other driver was taken to Palmdale Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries,” according to Church.
The intersection was closed for two hours during the CHP investigation. “Both drivers were determined to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision,” Church said. “Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this crash.” The collision remains under investigation and anyone with information was urged to call the CHP’s Antelope Valley Area office at 661-743-6060 during business hours to speak with investigating Officer E. Alonzo. After hours, callers can contact the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at 323-259-3200.
