Everytable, the mission-driven company making fresh, scratch-cooked meals accessible to all, is proud to announce a groundbreaking new partnership with the Compton Unified School District (CUSD). This marks Everytable’s first time serving as the official meal provider for a public K–12 school district—bringing fresh, nourishing meals to K-12 scholars across Compton.
Over the last few years, Everytable has opened stores across Los Angeles, with 38 in South LA specifically. Everytable was started by Sam Polk and his wife in 2012 after watching a Netflix documentary on food deserts in Los Angeles. They created a nonprofit called FEAST, which works with parents in underserved neighborhoods to provide healthier food options for kids. This led to the creation of the first feast group at Manual Arts High School. As time went by, Sam and his nonprofit eventually became Everytable and expanded their reach.
In 2015, it was obvious that people in various parts of Los Angeles were unhappy with their food options in their community, so once Everytable was fully realized and established, we started to grow at a rapid pace,” Polk said about Everytable’s history. Everytable’s relationship with the City of Compton started when visionary leader Keith Curry was seeking a company to run their cafeteria at Compton College as they were creating an initiative to support stopping students from going hungry. This partnership helped Polk and Everytable showcase their commitment to helping students and others in need.
“Every kid deserves a meal that’s fresh, delicious, and made with whole ingredients,” said Polk. “We started this company to make scratch-cooked meals accessible for everyone—and that includes scholars. With this partnership, we’re not just changing what school lunch looks like—we’re changing how it’s made, who it’s for, and how good it can really be.”
Everytable hosted a scholar tasting at Compton High School to preview new scratch-cooked meals for the upcoming K–12 menu. Scholars sampled dishes like Chicken Alfredo, Chicken Teriyaki, Pollo Asado, and a Chicken Parm Ciabatta Sandwich, and more—each made with fresh ingredients and bold flavors.
The new school meals program was designed specifically with kids in mind, inspired by feedback from the people who matter most: scholars themselves. Each meal is made from whole ingredients, prepared fresh daily in Everytable’s kitchen, and tailored to be balanced, flavorful, and kid-approved.
“At Compton Unified, we are deeply committed to nourishing our scholars with meals that are fresh, wholesome, and thoughtfully prepared,” said Lani Izumi, Compton Unified Senior Director of Student Nutrition Services. “Through our partnership with Everytable, we are elevating the standard of school meals—offering scratch-made dishes that are rich in flavor, high in quality, and crafted with our scholars’ well-being at heart. This collaboration represents a bold step forward in fueling their health, enhancing their focus, and empowering their academic and personal success.”
