‘Now in its seventh year, South LA Pride is back and — yes — “It’s Still Giving.” The beloved celebration of queer culture, community, and resistance will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Michelle and Barack Obama Sports Complex. The event is free, family-friendly, and unapologetically centered on South Los Angeles’ vibrant Black and Brown LGBTQ+ communities.
This year’s theme, “It’s Still Giving,” is a reminder that South LA Pride continues to show up and show out with authenticity, intention, and an energy you won’t find anywhere else. South LA Pride is rooted in the culture—with a deep commitment to uplifting local performers, small businesses, community organizations, and everyday people who also represent the real heart of Los Angeles.
“South LA Pride was built to reflect us—our stories, our culture, our joy, and our resistance,” said Jasmyne Cannick, Organizer-in-Chief of South LA Pride. “This year’s Pride is especially meaningful given everything our communities are up against—from rising anti-LGBTQ+ legislation to attacks on Black and Brown lives. Now more than ever, we need spaces that affirm who we are, celebrate our resilience, and remind the world that we’re still here, still loud, and still giving.”
This year’s 2025 South LA Pride co-chairs represent the heart, hustle, and fierce spirit of the community. From ballroom legends to grassroots organizers, the lineup is stacked with changemakers who don’t just show up — they turn it out. Returning to lead is Icon LA Father Byron Juicy Couture, joined by Dvaugn Neville, Irvin Jerez, JayBezz Betts, Nena Walker, Chanel Lumiere, and Timiah Lenard. Together, the 2025 co-chairs are leading a diverse, intergenerational community planning committee committed to creating a Pride celebration that reflects the voices, culture, and brilliance of South LA.
“I believe in creating and being in spaces to elevate the experiences of our LGBTQI community and allies,” added co-chair Chanel Lumiere.
South LA Pride is made possible in part thanks to the continued support of Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Councilmember Heather Hutt, who remain committed to uplifting South LA’s LGBTQ+ communities and creating space for joy, safety, and visibility.
