The current climate on immigration and deportation leaves Black and Brown communities in uncertainty, as Trump and ICE have made it obvious that illegal immigrants are not welcomed in the U.S.A. despite how long they have lived in this country. With constant changes to the visa and green card process, migrants have leaned on humanitarian organizations for direction, while hundreds of thousands are at risk of being deported back to their home countries in which they fled for their lives. Meanwhile, immigrants are being forced to “register,” and the IRS is pressured to expose the undocumented. Even social media is scrutinized in naturalization cases.
Since being elected, President Trump has signed over two dozen executive orders, with some granting Trump the power to quietly declare a national emergency to use government resources to support mass deportation. Trump spent a considerable amount of time in January harping on border control and increasing officers to patrol and maintain migrants coming into the country. In February 2025, Border Patrol agents recorded approximately 8,347 apprehensions of migrants attempting to cross the border unlawfully between ports of entry, marking a 94.1 percent decrease compared to February 2024, when the number stood at 140,641.
Sean McGoffin, chief patrol agent of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Tucson Sector, told Newsweek that the agency still has work to do.
“We don’t want anything coming across that border: narcotics, weapons, money, any of that type of stuff,” McGoffin said. “Sometimes, you know, we see weird stuff like Cuban cigars or whatever, but the reality is what I try to tell everybody is, you know, one pill will kill, and so we have narcotics across that border.”
Trump has also attacked human rights organizations and sanctuary cities as he probes America for migrants. “They’re guarding criminals… we may just end the entire thing altogether,” Trump said, telling reporters that an executive order may be coming to cities not cooperating with law enforcement.
“While Trump works tirelessly to safeguard our communities and strengthen our national security, the radical left continues to weaponize the legal system to oppose common-sense policies,” former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel J. Cameron, who currently serves as the CEO of the 1792 Exchange, told Fox News Digital. “It will surprise no one that the radical left will double and triple down on this strategy.”
At the moment, Trump faces 15 injunctions blocking his executive actions as of February, according to data compiled by Harvard Law Review. Cameron said that while roadblocks exist, they are only temporary attempts from the ‘Radical Left’ that soon will be removed.
“Inside of the United States, your zip code should be irrelevant when it comes to enforceable federal law,” he said. “Cities and states that harbor illegal aliens from federal authorities or otherwise actively interfere with the enforcement of federal law do not deserve taxpayer money or support. Plain and simple. I suspect the executive order will stop taxpayers from being on the hook for the unsafe immigration decisions of local authorities.”
