Since his Sept. 16 arrest, rapper/producer/record executive Sean “Diddy” Combs has been held without bail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, additional accusations and civil complaints continue to pile up concerning his involvement in illicit activities. Initially arrested for racketeering, sex trafficking, and creating a criminal empire during his rise to become one of the wealthiest musical artists, a class action lawsuit has been filed against the 55-year-old detainee by over 100 plaintiffs represented by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee during October. These include allegations of sexual assault, some involving under-aged minors, and Buzbee has reportedly setup a hot line to encourage other complainants to come forward, with a reported 12,000 calls received to date.

Meanwhile, prosecutors are claiming that Combs is attempting to blackmail potential witnesses in an effort to discourage them from testifying against him. More recently, a figure from his past, former rapper and Diddy protégé Jameel Barrow, formerly known as “Shyne,” has come forward to claim he was paid $50,000 to be the fall guy in an incident at Manhattan’s Club New York in 1999. During the course of this incident, Diddy and his then-girlfriend entertainer Jennifer “J-Lo” Lopez were involved in an altercation inside the Times Square establishment, in which several bystanders were hit with gunshots. Combs, Lopez, and Barrow were arrested immediately afterwards, although Lopez was released within an hour.

Combs was eventually acquitted, but he did settle a multi million-dollar civil lawsuit brought against him by the injured victims. Barrow served an eight-year sentence but maintains he was coerced into taking the rap in exchange for $50,000. Survivors of the incident maintain they saw Barrow and Combs brandishing pistols during the shooting.
Barrow maintains these allegations in a recently released Netflix documentary titled “The Honorable Shyne.” In the film former Diddy employees also describe a bizarre occult ritual in which the mogul sacrificed a bird in Central Park just prior to his court date to ensure his acquittal in the nightclub shooting.

Federal investigators raided Combs’ cell within the Detention Center, prompting his defense team to complain on Nov. 18 that the search violated his attorney-client privileges by confiscating materials directly tied to his defense, and further impede his request for bail. This raid is connected with reports that Combs is trying to sway potential jurors and witnesses via blackmail, bribery, and threats through third party calls and the use of other inmate’s phone privileges.

Upon his release from prison, Barrow returned to his native Belize to begin a successful political career. He reportedly intends to run for that country’s Prime Minister’s office next year. Combs remains incarcerated until his trial on May 5, 2025.
