The Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation (GLAEF) has introduced Stitch for LA County Youth (stitichla.org), a free online portal designed to connect educators, school leaders, and families with a variety of enrichment opportunities across the Greater Los Angeles area. Stitch offers access to a broad range of educational programs, including arts, STEM activities, school assemblies, and curriculum guides, all aimed at enhancing the learning and development of TK-12 students in Los Angeles County.
In addition, GLAEF has launched a fully redesigned website at www.glaef.org. The updated site prioritizes the user experience, featuring a modern layout that simplifies exploration of GLAEF’s mission, resources, and initiatives. The new design allows teachers, parents, and community members to easily navigate and learn how GLAEF supports education across LA County.
Stitch is fully integrated into the redesigned website, offering a seamless, interactive experience for users looking for youth enrichment programs. The platform includes a searchable database and an interactive map, enabling users to locate programs based on their geographic area. Whether for classroom use, after-school programming, or youth group activities, Stitch connects users with valuable resources designed to make a meaningful impact on student learning.
Key features of Stitch include:
One-hundred percent free resource: Stitch is free for everyone to use. Families and educators can search for programs and set up profiles, while organizations can promote and share their offerings at no cost.
Collaboratively developed: Co-created by a coalition of trusted Los Angeles-based organizations and powered by InPlay, Stitch is built on local expertise and commitment to youth in the Greater Los Angeles region.
Wide range of programs: Users can explore a comprehensive selection of enrichment options tailored to all ages and interests, including arts, STEM,, and other educational programming.
Mobile-friendly design: Stitch’s responsive website is compatible with all devices, making it easy to find programs on the go.
In a region as vast and diverse as Greater Los Angeles, navigating the available out-of-school enrichment opportunities can be overwhelming. Stitch was created to fill this crucial gap by providing a centralized, easy-to-navigate platform that brings visibility and accessibility to a range of extracurricular opportunities and learning programs. By unifying these resources under one digital roof, Stitch ensures that all students have the chance to engage in transformative experiences in and outside of the classroom.
GLAEF is the premier philanthropic partner of the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), the largest regional education agency in the nation. Operating independently from LACOE, GLAEF serves 80 school districts with more than 1.3 million TK-12th grade students throughout LA County. Established in 2019, GLAEF seeks to address the region’s most pressing educational equity challenges impacting vulnerable communities by providing access to empowering and innovative educational resources.
Stitch is a collaborative effort, co-created by several leading organizations in the education and cultural sectors, including GLAEF, LA STEM Collective, MESC, LA County Department of Arts and Culture, LA County Arts Ed Collective, Annenberg Learner, GPSN, ExpandLA, Wildwoods, MOCA, Columbia Memorial Space Center, and B-Relyt, with founding support from the Snap Foundation and Getty Foundation. Additionally, the platform will prominently feature PST ART: Art & Science Collide, a partnership with the Getty, showcasing innovative educational programming, community events, and exhibitions.
