The NBA offseason just started and already has fans excited for next season. Leading up to the draft, experts and fans expressed a lack of interest in the influx of talent as many prospects didn’t have any early identifiable superstar traits. Bronny James also was the talk of the draft as people were anticipating where he would be drafted, among free-agent decisions.
The draft started with the Atlanta Hawks passing on favored Australia rookie Alex Sarr in favor of Zaccharie Risacher, a rookie from France. Other draft moves were the Spurs drafting and trading Kectutky star Rob Dilligham to the Minnesota Timberwolves for two first-round picks in 2030 and 2031. The draft excitement concluded when Bronny James was selected 55th by the Los Angeles Lakers, pairing him with his dad and creating the first father-son duo in NBA history.
Free Agency started this past weekend, and big-time players are on the move. Trades began early in the offseason as OKC and Chicago traded their starters, Josh Giddey, for Alex Caruso, respectively. The Knicks joined the party by trading Bojan Bogdanovic and a slew of picks to the Nets for Mikal Bridges, reuniting the 2018 Villonavoa championship roster. New Orleans Pelicans also made a splash in the trading market by acquiring Dejounte Murray for Dyson Daniels, Larry Nance Jr., and two first-round picks. Paul George opted out of his player option with the Los Angeles Clippers and has reached a four-year agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers. Chris Paul was released from the Warriors, and Klay Thompson has joined the Dallas Mavericks.
While in the early stages, many teams and stars are still plotting the course for how their roster will look next season. Check back here again for updates.
