Get ready to dive into a summer adventure as the City of Lancaster participates in The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™(WLSL)! In an effort to break records and save lives, community members are welcome to join this global initiative aimed at promoting water safety awareness and drowning prevention. Lancaster’s Eastside Pool at Pierre W. Bain Park, 45045 5th Street East, will serve as an official Host Facility for the WLSL event on Thursday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Swimmers at aquatic facilities all around the world will unite for the fifteenth year to teach kids vital water safety skills to help prevent childhood drowning, taking place over 24 hours at hundreds of aquatic facilities, swim schools and waterparks in more than 20 countries.
The event will feature certified swimming instructors guiding participants through a structured lesson focused on basic swimming skills and water safety fundamentals. Participants of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend, making this a fun and inclusive activity for the entire family.
Additionally, families are invited to join us after the main event from 2 to 6 p.m. for a free public swim at Eastside Pool! Swimmers will be allowed in on a first come, first serve basis so make sure to plan ahead.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ was created to raise awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim to prevent childhood drowning. Since its inception, more than 383,000 children and adults have participated in WLSL Lessons in 53 countries on six continents generating billions of media impressions about the importance of learning to swim.
