Funding for traffic safety project

The City of Santa Clarita, working in collaboration with Sen. Alex Padilla and Rep[. Mike Garcia (CA-27), has been awarded $1.5 million in federal funding to address traffic circulation and pedestrian improvements within our community.
Garcia and representatives from Padilla’s office are scheduled to join members of the Santa Clarita City Council on June 18 for a 9:30 a.m. press event in the parking lot located at 23850 Copper Hill Drive. This intersection is one of the five signalized locations where the project will improve traffic congestion for the surrounding neighborhoods.
The “Traffic and Pedestrian Circulation and Safety Improvements Project” includes modifications like raised center medians to accommodate triple-left turn lane pockets, a bus stop relocation, a right-turn lane extension and early access to left-turn lanes. These improvements may help to alleviate known chokepoints during peak hours, reducing delays for motorists and increasing pedestrian safety along our roads. Beyond traffic improvements, these enhancements are designed to support commercial, retail and residential activities throughout the community.
