At Palmdale Amphitheater

The City of Palmdale invites artists to make their mark on the Palmdale Amphitheater at Marie Kerr Park — the Antelope Valley’s premier outdoor entertainment venue. The city is commissioning a mural that reflects the heart and soul of Palmdale to adorn the building facing the property’s interior, spanning 17 feet in height and 39 feet in width.

“Your City Council is committed to beautification efforts and creating attractive public spaces for all residents to enjoy,” said Palmdale Mayor Austin Bishop. “I encourage all artists to consider submitting applications for this mural project, as it is an excellent way to showcase creative talents while leaving a lasting impression on one of Palmdale’s most prominent facilities.”

The following themes, identified through a survey conducted by the City, emerged as favorites among community members and should be represented in submissions: 1) Desert landscapes including Joshua trees, yucca trees, poppies and lakes, or 2) Palmdale’s scenic views encompassing mountains, sunsets, sunrises, stars, foothills and blue skies.

To be considered for this project, artists must meet eligibility criteria, including residency in California, creative engagement, experience painting murals and the ability to work successfully as part of a project team. The application submission deadline is Friday, June 14, and the chosen artist will be notified by Tuesday, June 25. The winner will receive a $450 stipend to submit a color sketch or digital image of the proposed artwork to scale.
