Just over a penny compared to last week

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped for the fourth time in five days by six-tenths of a cent by midweek to $5.376, a day after falling a half-cent.

The average price has dropped 1.7 cents over the past five days, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 1.6 cents less than one week ago but 34.3 cents more than one month ago and 45 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.118 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped 1.5 cents to $5.295. It has decreased seven consecutive days, dropping 5.4 cents, including 1.4 cents Tuesday.

The Orange County average price is 5.4 cents less than one week ago but 30.9 cents more than one month ago and 40.7 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.164 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the fourth time in five days following a run of 15 increases in 17 days totaling 14.4 cents, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $3.66. It is the same price it was one week ago and 12.7 cents higher than one month ago but seven-tenths of a cent less than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.356 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
