Scheduled Friday, Sept. 29

The Palmdale Playhouse will present the critically acclaimed 1928 silent film “The Passion of Joan of Arc” on Friday, Sept. 29 at 8 pm in honor of National Silent Film Day.

This new restoration of the Carl Dreyer silent classic is brought to life with a beautiful, reimagined modern score by composer and keyboardist George Sarah combining electronic music, the West Coast Classical String Quartet and Sunday Night Singers Choir to create a profound experience for all to enjoy.

Silent films are rarely presented on a big screen with a live musical accompaniment that combines electronic synths and rhythms with a string ensemble and choir. This event promises to be a landmark of local cinema, especially for its unforgettable performance by Renee Maria Falconetti as Joan. With a 98% Rotten Tomatoes rating and hailed as one of the greatest and most important films of all time by over 100 critics, including the late Roger Ebert.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for military, seniors, students, and children 12 & under and are available at www.PalmdalePlayhouse.com.
