Carson Street Fair fetes city’s 55th anniversary


Plenty of fun for the entire family

If you’re looking for some family fun this Saturday, you may not have to look much further. The city of Carson will be hosting its 55th Anniversary Street Fair on July 29. The street fair began in 1968 and is still going strong. The street fair will take place from noon until 8 p.m.

The street fair will take place in downtown Carson, on Carson Street between Bonita and Civic Center Drive. Be advised when commuting that there is a street closure on Carson Street, between Avalon Boulevard and Bonita Street beginning on Friday, July 27 from 8 p.m. to Sunday, July 30 at 1 a.m.

The Street Fair will include many attractions such as live entertainment, food and craft vendors, kid zones, and a car show. The headlining act is an RNB electro-funk group called Sounds of Success, better known as the S.O.S. Band. The S.O.S. Band is well known for the hits “Take Your Time ( Do It Right),” “Just Be Good to Me,” and “The Finest”. Other artists and bands include Dembrebrah West African Dance, Ysabela Loyola, Alma de Oro, Calas Cheer, and the Filharmonic.

Food vendors include Smiles Jamaican Grill, California Fish Grill, Compton Vegan, Throwdown Soul Food, and Aiga Flavors. Informational vendors will be available to fair attendees, examples include Green Hills Mortuary, Sky Pediatric Dentistry, P. Carson Literary Club, Pro Legal Inc., and P. Vistaland International.

Kids Zones and activities include the petting zoo, The Little Mermaid attractions, face painting, balloon animals, photo booths, selfie scavenger hunts, ECE Sensory Stations/ Art & Crafts, Boys and Girls Club, cotton candy, and popcorn machine.

Finally, retail craft vendors include Jus Tippn’ Hats, Afro Accent, D&S Handmade Jewelry, the Craftoholic Shop, Shell Cosmetics, and Talk of the Town Fashions Mobile Boutique. This diverse and award-winning lineup will be enjoyed as a free event for all who wish to attend the street fair.
