Downtown Crenshaw to host Community Cafe

The community is invited to a 2 p.m. meeting Saturday, Feb. 25 at The Umoja Center, 3347 W. 43rd St., to learn about the project vision for the former site of the Total Experience.

In 2022, Downtown Crenshaw looked at the site of the historic former Total Experience site and reimagined it as a 100% affordable housing project with ground-floor retail space that honors the legacy of the site, and creates new great memories and resources for the community.

Liberty Community Land Trust and Downtown Crenshaw Rising, in collaboration with development partners Venice Community Housing and restorative justice architects Designing Justice + Designing Spaces, have been hard at work, and now have a design they wish to share.

Participants will meet the project team, see the results from past engagements and chat about how community members can collectively build the future of the neighborhood.

Interested persons must RSVP at https://crenshawcafe230225.eventbrite.com/ as there are capacity limits, and all participants will be required to adhere to strict COVID protocol, including spacing and wearing KN-95/N-95 masks at all times.
