Selma Vivian Rouzan laid to rest

Born in Saint Louis, Mo. in 1937, then-Selma Pinston was the youngest of four children. The famly moved to Los Angeles, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.

While rearing four children, Pinkston attended San Jose State University, continuing her education to become an elementary school teacher. She resided in the Bay Area before moving back to LA, where she married Gilbert C. Rouzan Jr. and giving birth to Javan and Deborah Rouzan.

A membr of New Jerusalem Church and later Tower of Faith Evangelishtic Church of God in Christ, both located in Compton, Rouzan worked as a Sunday School teacher. She was also employd by the Lynwood Unified School District as the head of the PTA Committe and after school programs.

Rouzan’s 2 step brothers, 6 children, 21 gandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a host of other family members and friends mourn her passing.
