‘Shop Small’ campaign wants to increase local spending

The LA South Chamber of Commerce will launch its #ShopSmall, #ShopConscious, #ShopSouthLA Campaign on Black Friday, Nov. 26, with promotional events at seven local small businesses throughout the weekend.  At each two- to three-hour  stop, there will be free giveaways, raffles, discounts, music, and more.

“At a time when many small businesses are still struggling to recover losses from the pandemic, this is an opportunity to give them a boost and remind folks to avoid the mall and shop small,” stated Dexter McLeod, president of the LA South Chamber of Commerce.  “Many of our businesses didn’t survive the last 20 months, so being a conscious consumer is more important now than ever if we want to help our remaining businesses to stay afloat and thrive,” added Dexter.

On Friday, the first stop will be L.A. Grind Coffee and Tea Bar, 1412 S. Redondo Blvd., LA, one of the city’s  newest Black & female-owned coffee shops in the city, followed by Cultural Interiors, 4421 W. Slauson, LA, an eclectic home décor and gift shop featuring exquisite accents from around the world.

On Saturday, promotional events will be held at Body by Gigi, 909 Central Ave., Compton; Pretty As Me Nails, 647 E. University Dr.,Carson, and  The T-Shirt Spot, 10401 S. San Pedro St., LA.  On Sunday, the Chamber will host a pop-up event in Westmont at Perfect Timing Mobile Boutique, 107 N. Long Beach Blvd., Compton, with selected vendors. The final stop will be Lavender Blue Sports Lounge, 3310 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood,  with live music and food and drink specials. There is no charge for entry.

For Cyber Monday, the chamber is encouraging everyone to be very intentional about shopping with small businesses online. Several can be found here: . Product offerings include apparel, jewelry, food, home décor, beauty products, signs and banners, and more.
