County receives homeless grant

Los Angeles County has been awarded a $1.12 million grant to use in its efforts to combat homelessness.

The Emergency Solutions Grant was awarded by the California Department of Housing and Community Development for L.A. to fund its Homeless Management Information System and use for rapid rehousing.

San Bernardino County received $299,499 through the program for homeless prevention, rapid rehousing and emergency shelters; and Riverside County received $301,695 for homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing, according to Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R-Yucaipa).

“I thank the Department of Housing and Community Development for its effort to ensure Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties receive direct resources to help combat homelessness,’’ said Bogh, whose 23rd District covering portions of Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties.

“This funding will help connect people who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness with vital services they need,’’ said Bogh, a member of the Senate Housing Committee.

Emergency Solutions Grant funding is given to the California Department of Housing and Community Development from the federal government to prevent homelessness and respond to families who are experiencing homelessness or receiving assistance.
