Have you ever had your faith tested? So much so, that it seemed your belief system was a kind of “fairytale” or just an outright lie? And then something miraculous happens that awakens you to the power within…it simply becomes “A Question of Faith.”
In theaters Sept. 29, “A Question of Faith” will open your heart, mind and soul to the truth about the power of faith.
The film’s log-line reads, “When tragedy strikes three families, their destinies force them on a converging path to discover God’s love, grace and mercy as the challenges of their fate could also resurrect their beliefs.”
The three families involved in this life-altering movie are from entirely different backgrounds. Pastor David Newman (Richard T. Jones) is a loving husband and father, set to take over his dad’s church while neglecting the promises he’s made to his 12-year-old son, Eric.
Kate Hernandez (Jaci Velasquez) is a spiritually driven single-parent and owner of a local restaurant. Her daughter, Maria, is a free-spirited teenager aspiring to be the first in her family to go to college.
John Danielson (C. Thomas Howell) is the owner of a failing construction company who sees his daughter Michelle’s fledgling singing career as a way out of financial trouble.
The lives of these strangers collide when two twists them of fate strike back to back. The first: while texting and driving in her car, Maria accidentally hits Eric, which lands Maria in jail and leaves Eric’s family with an unthinkable dilemma. The second: while auditioning for a major record label, Michelle collapses, leading to a discovery about her health which rocks the very foundation of her father’s dream.
All three families find themselves at a crossroads, questioning their faith and the higher power that guides their lives.
The Dove Foundation, whose mission is to encourage and promote the creation, production, distribution and consumption of wholesome family entertainment, writes: “This is a story of choices; the choice to forgive or seek vengeance, the choice to stay angry or act positively, the choice to run away from God in the face of tragedy or to run toward Him.”
Veteran actress Kim Fields’ character embodies all of the above and more as the supportive, and faith driven wife of Pastor Newman. Fields bringing her vibrant and powerful delivery to the film is guaranteed to impact audiences from all walks of life.
“A Question of Faith,” also stars T.C. Stallings, Gregory Alan Williams and Renee O’Connor.
“A Question of Faith” is breaking new ground in the area of Film Production.
Angela White and Lisa Diane Washington, two Black women who are the producers of “A Question of Faith,” are the first Black women to release a faith-based film theatrically. In a EUR WEB interview with reporter Kam Williams, White said of the film, “It is a mixture of emotions from ‘Wow’ we are in 2017 and there are still firsts, to I am honored to carry that torch, as so many before me have done.”
A lot of compassion and love has gone into the production of “A Question of Faith.” It’s not just a job to the people in front and behind the camera, it’s a calling.
Faith-based films are not necessarily known as box-office money-makers. However, these movie makers and many like them are working diligently to present quality faith-based films that reach the masses.
On that note, Fields is awaiting the fall release of her highly anticipated autobiography, “Blessed Life.” Her book will feature arresting transparency, humor and will be chock full of many personal stories of joy, pain, triumphs and challenges as well as wonderfully delightful tales of growing up in Hollywood. “Blessed Life” is sure to be an inspiring best seller for Kim, its publisher, Hachette, and her readers.
