Applications open for organizations interested in presenting free concerts

The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is accepting applications from organizations seeking support for presenting music programming at their facility or designated location. Applications for the Free Concerts in Public Sites program are due March 1. Eligibility information and program requirements are available at

With funding support from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the Arts Commission administers the sponsorship of free concerts at community venues throughout Los Angeles County to provide access to quality music programming representing the diversity of county residents. Concerts are presented from July to October in sites as varied as parks, libraries, probation camps, senior citizen centers and nonprofit performance venues. Artists who perform as part of the Free Concerts in Public Sites program are chosen by the presenters from the Arts Commission’s Musicians Roster, which can be found at

Featuring more than 100 Los Angeles County-based groups representing a range of musical styles, the Musicians Roster is comprised of artists chosen by a panel of experienced and respected music professionals. Criteria include artistic excellence, cultural diversity and the ability to work cooperatively with other organizations. The roster represents a variety of musical genres, including African, classical, electronic, folk, jazz, Mexican, R&B, South American and many more. This online directory is accessible to the general public.

In order to qualify to become a concert presenter, organizations’ performances must be free and open to the general public. There may not be an admission charge or condition of admittance, including the purchase of food. There may not be donations or fundraising, before, during or after the performance (including raffles). There can be no commercial advantage gained from the performance. You can apply to host a concert, if you represent a park, juvenile hall, civic center, library, probation camp, senior citizen center, hospital, arts organization, or non-profit performance venue.

Los Angeles City agencies are not eligible to apply for funding through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. Organizations receive one concert per season.
