A 39-year-old clerk who was shot dead during the robbery of a discount store in south Los Angeles was identified by police this morning.
Martha Sanchez, a wife and mother of five children ages 3-19, died in a hospital shortly after being shot by a gunman who robbed the 99 Cent Store at 74th Street and Broadway around 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.
A customer called police after walking into the store shortly after the robbery and shooting and discovered Sanchez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
The suspect, a male, was last seen heading south on Broadway, police said. No detailed description of him was released.
