Group hosts 27th Supplier of the Year Awards luncheon


The region’s leading minority business advocacy organization, Southern California Minority Business Development Council, (SCMBDC) hosts its 27th annual Supplier of the Year Awards luncheon today, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel, located at 251 S. Olive St.
Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) will be recognized based on their performance and their contracts associated with SCMBDC.

William C. “Bill” Allen, president and CEO of Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. (LAEDC), is the keynote speaker and Nelson Davis, president of The Making It Institute for the Advancement of Business, will emcee.

This year’s African American nominees include; Federal and Commercial Contracts Inc., Inglewood; Gifts Cetera/Cetera Marketing, North Hollywood; Icon Blue, Los Angeles; Max Out Inc., Industry; A10 Chemical Solutions, Cary, N.C.; ChemicoMays, LLC; Southfield, Mich.; c Aliso Viejo; Walton Isaacson, LLC, Sherman Oaks; and SodexoMagic, LLC, Beverly Hills.

Nominees are selected through their good standing with the council and are judged by the Supplier of the Year award selection committee. The committee is comprised of SCMBDC corporate members based on their growth, development, high-quality operations, products/services and business performance.

One winner is selected in each class category, which are based on annual sales of less than $1 million (Class I), between $1 million and $10 million (Class II), between $10 million and $50 million (Class III), and $50 million and greater (Class IV). All awards will be presented at the luncheon.

SCMBDC has been around since 1975, making a positive impact in the minority business community. The council offers nationally recognized certification to minority-owned businesses, strategic networking between corporate members and certified firms, education, and skills development to help minority businesses enhance their society.
