Junior Business Camp

The Urban Media Foundation, a multimedia youth development program for inner-city children will hold its Junior Business Camp (JBC) on Aug. 12 and 13 as part of the West Coast Expo.

Participants will learn practical business skills such as team building, leadership development, financial management, professional communication, and business etiquette through interactive lesson and exercises. There will also be a number of presentations and workshops including “Start a Business for less than $100” and “Banking: Make it, Grow it, Stow it!”

“At the JBC we introduce youth to the principles of small business ownership and financial literacy to encourage sound financial choices and provide success options that these student are not exposed to in school,” said Sherion Johnson, director of external relations and fund development for the Urban Media Foundation. “The West Coast Expo will provide the perfect venue to reach young people from diverse backgrounds and give them the opportunity to be exposed to the many entrepreneurs that will be present at this inaugural event.”

The camp will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to students ages 14 to 17 years old. For more information and to register for the free camp,call the Urban Media Foundation at (323) 905-1330.
