My own reputation as a political analyst—now smashed and scattered all over the ground—may indeed eventually recover. Maybe. But that’s a personal hope I can nourish from within.
The U.S., the country I call home, however, quite probably just doomed itself on November 5, 2024, and quite probably will not survive this profound mistake. Native Americans may finally see an important answer to their prayers for respite, if not recompense, after all these years.
Parents who teach their children competence (or at least bravado) without accompanying lessons in responsibility, along with the art of simply taking what one wants and letting the compainers complain , will be happy to see one of theirs accede to the driver’s seat. Too bad the irresponsibility of both trainers and driver now have us all revving up on the mountain road intending to careen too fast around roads that require caution in order to survive them.
The tight White House on the hill fantasy sold to the world over the last 50 years is today shown to be an AI fake, we should get ready for much mud to be thrown in our faces.

Kamala Harris ran a great race and should, logically, have won. Quite obviously, she didn’t. There was no Truman reverses Dewey’s victory awaiting any of us this morning, no matter how much we howled at the moon last night. Many of us, including this writer, are still shaking our heads in disbelief, and that will probably continue unabated for weeks, even months to come.
I will spend my final days working on crafting a reasonable Pan African exit from what remains of the American experiment, with more than a faint hope of building a real Wakanda somewhere for Black folk. With Trump and his gang in charge here, there will be smaller and smaller portions of light entering the houses of Black folk here. The old adage, ‘Let the sins of the fathers forever flail the offspring,” will finally prevail here.
Edvard Munch’s famous lithograph of “The Scream” will again be fashionable for the next few years (even if Trump has a fatal accident) since the 2025 plan will already have been launched.
I fear for the health of the U.S.A., and so should we all.
