Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is calling on the public, airport passengers, and business partners to support Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), who continue to report to work and perform their duties without pay during the ongoing federal government funding lapse, ensuring the safe and continued operations at LAX.

The LAX community is now organizing support for these essential workers, who have already endured missed paychecks earlier in the year. To date, the airport community, including food & beverage and retail partners, have provided TSOs with 15 gallons of free gas, extended meal and retail discounts across airport concessions, and displayed notes of appreciation from guests and staff throughout the terminal.

“You can always count on Angelenos to show up for each other. Our dedicated Transportation Security Officers continue to report to work and keep LAX safe and secure for millions of travelers without a paycheck. Thanks to the dedication of these fine officers LAX has not experienced significant deviations from typical passenger wait times or operations to date. The LAX community has stepped up in meaningful ways, and we’re asking everyone who travels through or works at this airport to join us,” said John Ackerman, Chief Executive Officer, Los Angeles World Airports.

To further support federal workers during the funding lapse, LAWA has opened a federal worker marketplace at the airport stocked with essential goods available to TSOs and other federal employees at no cost. The public is invited to contribute donations of shelf-stable food items, hygiene and personal care products, baby products and diapers, household essentials, and other non-perishable goods. Donations are accepted daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the LAXPD Facility Lobby, 9160 Loyola Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90045.

If you represent a business or institution that would like to support TSOs in Los Angeles, please reach out to LAWA’s Community Relations team at communityrelations@lawa.org.

Guests passing through LAX are encouraged to take a moment to thank a TSO at the checkpoint and offer thank you notes to pass to officers or post in the facility.
