IDs in Sun Village fatal crash

Two seniors are killed

Authorities this week identified a man and a woman who were killed in a two-vehicle crash in the Sun Village area of Los Angeles County’s Antelope Valley.

The collision occurred about 7:45 p.m. March 3 at the intersection of East Avenue T and 106th Street East, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Garcia said.

On Monday, they were identified as Jose Maldonado, 83, and Daphne Maldonado, 87, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

The pair apparently were trapped in one of the vehicles, according to the CHP’s log.

Video from the scene showed a red pickup and a red sedan both had extensive front-end damage. The news videographer said the occupants of the sedan were killed and the occupant of the pickup was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
