Participate in a worthy cause Oct 7

Registration is underway for the City of Lancaster’s popular Tour de Luke charity bike ride, set to take place this year on Saturday, Oct. 7. This annual cycling event, organized in collaboration with Lucky Luke Brewing and other businesses, aims to promote active transportation safety while raising funds for Resurrection Cycles, SEE AND BE SEEN programming, and other charitable partners.

The 14.2-mile Tour de Luke ride will commence from Lancaster's Lucky Luke Brewpub and lead cyclists to the Lucky Luke taproom in Palmdale before bringing them back to their starting point. Following the invigorating ride, participants are invited to revel in a celebratory beverage at Lucky Luke, marking a perfect conclusion to a day of fitness, fun, and philanthropy—with extra perks for VIP riders.

“I can’t think of a better way to spend an autumn afternoon in Lancaster than to get moving, cycle for a cause, and celebrate with friends at Lucky Luke,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “This event not only celebrates our community's passion for cycling and local brewing, but it also reinforces our commitment to making Lancaster a safer and more vibrant City for all.”

The City encourages all enthusiasts to register now for the group ride. General Registration starts at $30 and includes entry for the ride, one free beer after the ride (for riders 21+), one free fountain beverage (for riders under 21), and the option to add on a t-shirt with registration. You can also register as a VIP for $60 and receive a Tour de Luke 2023 branded Clip-On Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, a Lucky Luke branded neck cooling wrap, and 20% off at any Lucky Luke location on the day of the ride, in addition to the complimentary beer (21+) or fountain beverage after the ride and t-shirt add-on. Cyclists also have the option to register for free and ride along.

“Tour de Luke is more than just a bike ride. It represents a significant initiative to support the local community and make a positive impact,” added Mayor Parris. “Our City team and partners at Lucky Luke work diligently to create an event and bike ride that not only provides a great activity for participants but also directly enriches the lives of our beloved local community.”

The primary charitable partner for this year's Tour de Luke is Resurrection Cycles, a local nonprofit bike shop that provides low-cost bicycles and bicycle repairs to those in need. Since its establishment in 2019, Resurrection Cycles has been instrumental in offering affordable, reliable transportation to community members, including unhoused neighbors and disadvantaged youth who rely on bikes as their primary means of commuting.

The event's proceeds will also fund SEE AND BE SEEN programming, an award-winning K-12 active transportation safety and healthy living education initiative in Lancaster. This program includes vital activities such as bike repair clinics for students, community bike rides, and a bike donation program, all aimed at promoting a safer and healthier lifestyle for our citizens.
